PLAY IT BY EAR wishes you an early happy new year.
THE BODY IS THE SOUL begins Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
Things are truly nuts here in SoCal as I deal with my elderly mother’s medical and living situations, which have been changing just about every 12-24 hours for the past three weeks. I am still weirdly, wonderfully doing fine, as calm and empowered as I’ve ever felt. Eventually, I will tell all in “An atheist gins up some Grace, Part 3 (wrap-up)”—a story I’d intended to finish for today but just can’t get to it.
I’m as mentally exhausted as I’ve ever been, but I think I’ll finally be able to return home to Baltimore next Tuesday. I’ll need to rest and remember what my life is about when I’m not being the responsible elder daughter/parent of my parent.
That said, I recognize the privilege of my position. My mother saved a good amount of money, and while that doesn’t relieve me or my sister of being hyper-vigilant about her care in this last stage of life, it does give us options most Americans don’t have. I’ve been storing up a long list of interrelated topics to be explored under the banner THE BODY IS THE SOUL beginning in January, and the way financial stress affects us on a visceral/emotional level is one of the topics I intend to explore in the renamed blog in 2023.
I wish you all a restful holiday season and a strong measure of hope for good things in the coming new year.
All best,
Sandhya/Sandy
All the best to you Sandhya in the upcoming new year. Sounds like you've had your share of challenges to meet lately. And have met them.
Happy holiday times, rest up a bit, and catch up with you once more in January!
