This post vividly reminded me of a gig in which I got paid an absurd amount of money to show up and spend all day sitting around waiting to actually work for a couple minutes as a background actor on some asinine Monday night tv thing when I lived in Tokyo and kept thinking to myself while trying my best to tune out the inane banter of the other members of the pickup string quartet "The amount of money being spent to produce this nonsense could likely make a worthwhile impact on fixing the infrastructure of Timor L'Este".
